      Data is for current owner only but does show chain of past owners.
  • Wake County Register of Deeds
    • https://www.wake.gov/departments-government/register-deeds/recording-and-real-estate/
      Contains the images of the actual deeds recorded. Can also look up maps, easements, deeds of trust, agreements, etc.
  • Maps
    • Maps.raleighnc.gov
      Google Earth for aerial view. Also shows changes over time.
  • Census
    • https://www.archives.gov/research/census/online-resources
      Local Census data – lives of previous owners, like the number of children in the house, cost of the home, whether the home had a radio, race, ability to read & write.
  • Zebuon City Directory
    • Not online, but can find at NC Archives, Olivia Raney Library.
      A precursor to the modern phone book – info about businesses & owners over time.
  • Sanborn Fire Maps
    • Sanborn maps developed in 19th Century to determine fire insurance. In Zebulon, available for 1923 and in 1944.
  • Newspapers
    • Zebulon Record – digitized from 1925 to 1956.
    • Newspapers.com
      Has links to Raleigh-based papers.
