GRANT AWARDED

Preservation Zebulon received a $9,700 American Rescue Plan Humanities Grant from North Carolina Humanities. Funding for this grant was provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The grant will support Preservation Zebulon’s Memory Project and Historic House Tours which are slated to be held in Spring 2022.

“We are delighted by this grant award from the NC Humanities Council. The funding will enable us to enhance our Zebulon Memory Project by providing better quality film captures and presentations of our community elders and their stories. It will also help us feature the history of Zebulon as we open up several homes in the proposed Zebulon Historic District to the public in our first inaugural Historic Homes Tour. Most of these homes are 100+ years old and have never been open to the public before. Thanks to the NC Humanities Council for helping us preserve the history of our town!” said MaryBeth Carpenter, PZ Executive Director.

The NC Humanities Council is a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The NC Humanities Council serves as an advocate for lifelong learning and thoughtful dialogue about all facets of human life. It facilitates the exploration and celebration of the many voices and stories of North Carolina’s cultures and heritage.
